Someone broke into my car and stole my DSLR while parked overnight in our gated driveway. The camera equipment cost about $2000. I’m wondering if I can file a claim with my home insurance instead of my automobile insurance.

I am moving into a new house that is rented in Cambridge uk.It is a house share with one more person.
Is it compulsory by law to get home insurance before I move into this house?
Also, if anyone is aware of any good home insurance can you guide me please?
Many thanks

Some people are telling me yes and some people say that it’s a bad idea because your mortgage company can make your insurance payment late. What do you think? I’m a first time home buyer so I’m so lost. Thanks.

My father recently passed away, and the life insurance proceeds were paid out. I am curious to know what are the potential tax implications for Ontario, Canada for depositing said proceeds into a bank account or savings account.
